mapping your twitter friends with Yahoo pipes
    2008.11.19 23:51:22
So yesterday we went a little crazy with the sproutmarketing twitter account (you can click on that link to follow us). We took all the sproutians twitter accounts and looked at who they were following and then invited those people to follow sprout proper.

It worked great and many of the people we were following also followed us.  But I think we went a little too crazy because the they shut us down for a while. So if that link at the top isn't working try again tomorrow :)

This is what you really came to see.  This is a map made with yahoo pipes that will show you where your twitter friends are located.

    Who Blogs Now? Not Hispanics
    2008.06.07 14:33:00

A recent article on emarketer.com, titled "Who Blogs Now?", quotes an interesting study by BIGresearch. This study mentions the fact that 20% of U.S. bloggers are Hispanic, and then goes on to say "These percentages were essentially in line with the US Census Bureau's most recent estimates of the demographic breakdown of the US population." Well, that's not very accurate.

Hispanics account for roughly 14% of the US population, and that number decreases to less than 13% when considering only adult populations (18+).  7% difference might not look like a big deal, but it is when you are only 13% of the population.

If these statistics were accurate, then Hispanic adults would be 54% more likely to blog than the general adult population. Having worked in Hispanic marketing, I can tell you that's a "disparate", or nonsense! It is a well-known fact that Hispanic youth are highly active in social media. But hispanic adults...they are the complete opposite side of the spectrum.

Let me tell you what is a more likely finding from this research, Hispanic bloggers are 54% more likely to answer a survey about blogging than the general population. Now that's more realistic.
